Regarding Formality (With Superiors Ranks)

- When reporting to an superior, state: "<rank> <name>, awaiting instruction, <sir / ma'am>."

i) If you report for duty with a superior by your side, to a higher ranked, only salute, as your superior will lead the word and conduct any business.

- The above applies in all situations. If you are with a superior, allow them to conduct business.

- You will always address superiors properly, by rank and surname.

i) When receiving orders, you should respond with 'yes sir', or 'yes ma'am'.

- Once you have done a task for a superior, you will return to this superior, report that you have done as instructed, and wait for further orders.

- You will do nothing to demean or disrespect your superiors, on duty- examples of breaking this rule are to turn your back on them in formal situations or when being addressed, insult them, etc.

On Saluting:

+ Do not salute in a combat zone or combat situation!

- You will salute when receiving orders, upon all cases of meeting a superior, and upon departure.

- The lower rank should always salute first.

- A common rule in the army is to 'salute when in doubt'.

Regarding Formality (With Those of the Same or Lower Rank):

- You will always address those of the same or lower rank by their rank name, or simply their surname.

- You will do nothing to demean or disrespect your comrades, on duty- examples of breaking this rule are to insult them, attack them etc.

On Saluting:

- It is not necessary to salute those of the same rank, however the same rules as those regarding officers apply.

Code of Conduct:

I

Be prepared to give your life in the name of the state, and the King.

II

Never surrender.

III

If you are captured, do your best to escape by all means possible, and aid your cohorts in that escape.

IV

If you are a prisoner of war, give no information to the enemy, aid them in no way.

V

When questioned, you are to only give your name, rank, date of birth, and company name. You will evade answering further questions to the best of your ability.

VI

You are a soldier of the Stormwind, fighting for the King. You are responsible for your actions, and dedicated to the principles of your nation. You will trust in the Light and the Kingdom of Stormwind.

Regarding Permissions (Enlisted Ranks)

A more in depth guide to permissions and military law can be found here: https://the-stormguard.forumotion.co.uk/codex-of-the-stormguard-f1/discipline-and-punishment-a-work-in-progress-t64.htm#354

Enlisted ranks have the right...

- To execute anybody who poses an immediate, severe threat to the Grand Alliance; this includes it's soldiers, the respective governments, it's citizens, it's stability, etc.

- To execute any target from a faction the Grand Alliance is at the time in a state of war with.

- To arrest and interrogate anybody for up to one hour without charge or reason.

i) Nobles or important political targets should be only be arrested with an officer's permission.
ii) Any target from a faction the Grand Alliance is at war with is not subject to time limitations.

- To refuse any order which openly and blatantly conflicts with the Code of Conduct or the will of the King.

- To do what you must to preserve your life and the lives of your cohorts if they are immediately threatened.

Enlisted ranks should not...

- Generally, do much other than what is listed above;

- Execute targets out of the boundaries above.

- Judge and punish.

- Diplomatically represent the Stormguard or the Grand Alliance to any group.

In general, use your common sense to work out what you should and should not do. You are an enlisted soldier and your abilities are very much limited. You should always ask your superiors if you have even the slightest doubt.

Regarding Officers:

- Officers may do all of what is stated above, and generally can do all of the things listed in 'enlisted ranks should not' also.

However, only Sergeants may order executions.

Company behavioural regulations

These are rules governing what behaviour is acceptable when interacting with other enlisted ranks of the Stormguard. Breaking these rules will be subject to a discipliniary infraction and punishment.

  • No relation with an officer or fellow soldier is to go beyond friendship under any circumstances. Fraternisation is strictly forbidden.
  • Threats or acts of violence between enlisted ranks are strictly forbidden unless ordered by a superior.
  • Priests and priestesses representing the Church of the Light are to be shown full respect, regardless of rank.
  • Sullying the name of or insulting a superior officer is subject to punishment at that officer's discretion, up to and including dishonourable discharge.
  • Officers are to treat all subordinates proffessionally, and favouritism or prejudice is subject to punishment, up to and including demotion.
  • Knowledge of and failure to report the above acts is subject to punishment at the discretion of the investigating authority.

Any infraction is to be reported to the appropriate superior immediately.
